Less than 2 months to go!
The Fête de la Musique is in two months now and the team, comprised of Bassline, French Institute of South Africa and Alliance Française of Johannesburg, are working closely together to make this edition even more exciting!
In the coming weeks, the team will unveil the Fete’s musical line-up, then on Saturday 17 June, Newtown will come alive again as we bring #freemusicforall.
For the 3rd consecutive year, Total South Africa will support this event. Concerned about disadvantaged communities, the multinational company is proud to take part of this free festival that gathers different people in one single place. And a major contributor of the South African cultural life, the Market Theatre Foundation, will join the event as well. It is an honour for The Fête la Musique team to work with this historic theatre institution in Newtown and Johannesburg.
Both DGB (home to iconic brands such as Boschendal and Bacardi) and South African Breweries will also formally participate in the Fete this year. After their success at last year’s event, both The Potato Shed and Work Shop NewTown will play an increased role in 2017.
This year there’s an additional French touch provided by Patachou and Pâtisserie de Paris pastry shops, and so much more. With surprises still to come and we invite people to follow us on Facebook (@fetedelamusiquejhb), Twitter (@JoburgFDLM) and on our website www.fetedelamusiquejhb.co.za to get updates!
